Redshift was not installed on Debian 12, yet color temperature kept changing without manually doing it.  xsct 6500 restored default color temperature.  Switching to a Gnome session and disabling night shift worked.  After logging back into xfce the temperature issue returned. dconf reset -f / brought back the normal color temperature.
